Item 3: No crash barriers alongside deep excavated drainage
Problem:
In most of the cross-drainage pipes the danger plates are installed but the open excavated section is too close to the edge of the road.
No crash barriers alongside deep excavated drainage
Implications:
The vehicle might lose control and fall into a ditch. These exposes the risk to motorist in such a way that the road does provides recovery allowance.
Recommendation:
The danger plates will not protect the vehicles from getting into a ditch but warn the driver of possible danger. The excavated drainage can be backfilled using fill material and same diameter pipe to provide recovery space when the vehicle lose control or installation of a crash barrier
