Future plans surrounding the interchange

In its current form, the interchange would be classified as a rural interchange. Considering the future development along this corridor with the upgrading of the N2 from a 4 lane un-divided facility to a 6 lane divided facility (8 lanes in the ultimate scenario) and the adjacent land use developments, this portion of the N2 and the interchange may be re-classified as an urban interchange. With that in mind, the NMT facilities provided for an urban interchange is vastly different to that of a rural interchange.
