PROBLEM - GUARDRAIL’S DEFLECTION ANGLE

Summary: Risk of possible collision with severe consequences

Risk assessment: High Risk (Severity: Serious, Frequency: Probable)

In some sections, where there are guardrails, it was noticed that the deflection angle is greater than 45 degrees and in those sections the guardrails could fail to perform the important tasks of deflecting a vehicle back into the roadway, however, this is dependent on the speed and the weight of the vehicle, etc. As present there is a danger that vehicles will go through the guardrails.

Recommendation

It is recommended that a consideration be made in those sections to construct or re-install current guard rails properly.
