PROBLEM - GUARDRAIL END-TREATMENT
Summary: Risk of possible collision with severe consequences
Risk assessment: High Risk (Severity: Serious, Frequency: Probable)
The existing guardrails have their end-treatment as “fishtails or spoons”. The issue with guardrails end-treatment is that when they are “fishtails or spoons”, they have a potential of cutting through a vehicle when struck at a high speed.
Road Safety Appraisal Report, Provincial Road 15-1
Recommendation
The guardrails end-treatments should be considered to be flared on both ends.
