PROBLEM – CLOGGED V-DRAINS
Summary: Risk of slippery, losing control and colliding
Risk Assessment: Medium Risk (Severity: Serious, Frequency: Occasional)
The v-drains along this section of the road were observed to be clogged by fallen rocks, debris, leaves, etc. This has a potential of causing water to flow into the roadway and in that the presence of water in a road layer reduces the bearing capacity of the road and in doing so it also reduces its lifetime. Drainage systems performing properly are also very important to eliminate the resultant of potholes.
Recommendation
Constant clearing of the v-drains should be undertaken in order to prevent water running through the roadway and thereby creating aquaplaning.
